If you are interested in any of our open positions, please contact Inscape's Editor-in-Chief or Dr. Ruth Williams, Inscape's Faculty Adviser through your Jewell email. We assemble our staff in the fall of each year.
Editor-In-Chief
(Open for the 25-26 School Year)
Meets with the Faculty Advisor.
Works with Managing Editor to facilitate editorial work.
Runs meetings with Editorial Board.
Plans events to advertise Inscape, before and after creative works are turned in.
Organizes end-of-year Open Mic Night event.
Facilitates communication between editors.
Runs reader selection night.
Managing Editor
(Open for the 25-26 School Year)
Meets with the Faculty Advisor.
Works with Editor-in-Chief to facilitate editorial work.
Runs social media accounts.
Makes posters/fliers (copies, permission, posting)
Organizes web issue with Web Editor.
Plans events to advertise Inscape, before and after creative works are turned in.
Best for students at any level who are interested in developing leadership & communication skills.
Expected time commitment is 2-3 hours per month in the fall and 2-4 hours in the spring.
Web Editor
(Open for the 25-26 School Year)
Updates Inscape website.
Maintains submission forms on Brightspace.
Helps design and publish web issue with Managing Editor.
Best for students with experience with WordPress or a willingness to learn the software.
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours total in the fall, 5-10 total in the spring.
Genre Editors
(Multiple Open for the 25-26 School Year)
Includes editors for Fiction, Creative Non-Fiction, Poetry, and Visual/Performing Arts.
Assists w/ Reader Selection Process.
Gathers a group of 2-5 genre readers for their genre.
Oversees submission selection process for your genre (Reading submissions, voting, Keeping readers on-time, reporting results).
Planning Events.
Best for students who have completed at least one course in genre of choice and who have comfort delegating / leading a team. There is one genre editor per genre who oversees 2-5 readers.
Time Commitment: 2-3 hours total in the fall, 1-2 hours a month in the spring.
Readers
(Open)
Reading and voting on submissions on-time.
Participating in Events.
Attending our annual selection event (date TBA)
Best for students who have experience with genre of choice and who are interested in gaining experience as part of a team. There are usually 2-3 readers per genre.
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours total in the fall, 2-4 hours total in the spring.
